Volleyball Dominates Final Set In Victory Over Potsdam

BUFFALO, NY – The Bengals women's volleyball team dominated the final set to take a 3-1 victory over SUNYAC-rival Potsdam this afternoon. Eden Harrison (Eldersburg, MB/Century) notched 14 kills in the victory.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Harrison tallied a season-high 14 kills in the win.
  • Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) notched 18 assists.
  • Erin Mergler (Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) had 6 of the Bengals 16 total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State opened things up in the first set, however the Bears gradually closed the gap to keep it tight at the end.
  • Potsdam was unable to continue the comeback as the Bengals scored their last three points.
  • The Bears controlled much of the second set.
  • After taking a 6-5 lead, they keep the momentum going and dominated Buffalo State down the stretch.
  • The momentum swung back in favor of the Bengals in the third set after a thrilling 25-23 win.
  • In the final set, Buffalo State dominated.
  • After a 1-1 start, the Bengals caught fire and went on a 10-0 run and never looked back, eventually taking the final set 25-7.
FOR THE FOES 
  • Mikayla Myers had 16 kills for Potsdam.
  • Colleen Murphy dished out 23 assists.
UP NEXT 
The Bengals will continue SUNYAC play as they head on the road next weekend to battle Oneonta and New Paltz.
