Sarah Berlinger (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and
Elsa Graf (Pulaski, NY/Sandy Creek) of the Buffalo State women's soccer team have been recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, earning selection to the 2022 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must display combined excellence in their sport and in the classroom, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above through at least two full semesters at their institution, while also participating in at least 50% of their team's contests during the season.
Berlinger finished the Spring 2022 semester with a 4.0 GPA, raising her cumulative GPA to 3.71 throughout her tenure at Buffalo State. The midfielder also saw action in 12 games for the Bengals with two starts, and has played in 44 games across three seasons, registering three goals and one assist, the game-winning assist against Hilbert last season.
Graf also sported a 4.0 GPA for the Spring 2022 semester, and a 3.78 cumulative GPA to also earn her first Academic All-District nod. The midfielder netted three goals for Buffalo State, while playing in 15 games with two starts. Graf scored a pair of goals in the season-opening victory over Pitt-Bradford this season.
Both Berlinger and Graf also advanced to the ballot for Academic All-America.
