BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team dropped its SUNYAC opener on Tuesday evening, falling to Brockport by a final score of 71-63.

- Brianna Smith (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield) paced Buffalo State with 17 points and seven rebounds.
- Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) chipped in 15 points off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 17-15 near the end of the first quarter, Cornfield drained a jump shot to even the score after one quarter.
- After a layup by Smith gave the Bengals a 25-24 lead in the second quarter, Brockport closed the half on a 8-2 run for a 32-27 halftime lead.
- The Golden Eagles extended their lead to as many as nine in early in the third quarter.
- The Bengals responded, pulling to within one on another Smith basket.
- Brockport stretched the lead back out to seven points at the end of the third quarter.
- Buffalo State was able to pull to within four in the fourth, but the Golden Eagles maintained their advantage all the way to the final horn.

- Brockport had four players in double figures, led by Anna Lee's 14 points.
