BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team dropped a hard-fought battle with #8 Geneseo on Friday evening, falling 3-2 to the Knights in SUNYAC action at the Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Tyler Vanuden (Fort Frances, ON/Finlandia University) scored for the third consecutive game, while also extending his point streak to six games.
- Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) netted the other Buffalo State goal.
- Emil Norrman (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Dells Ducks) made 36 saves in goal.
- Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives) recorded an assist for the third straight game, while Hayden Ford (Medford, NJ/Philadelphia Revolution), Connor Bizal (Elk River, MN/Boston Jr. Rangers), and Nick Stuckless (Orangeville, ON/Skidmore College) also tallied an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo needed less than four minutes to strike first, as Jared Thomas stole the puck in the Bengals' defensive zone and ripped a wrist shot past Norrman.
- Late in the first period, Bizal sent a long pass across the ice to Vanuden, who rung his shot off the underside of the crossbar and into the net for the tying goal.
- Kozyrev deflected Stuckless' shot from the left faceoff circle dot with just over a minute remaining in the period for a power-play goal to give the Bengals the lead.
- Geneseo knotted the score at 2-2 with a power-play goal after Buffalo State was caught with too many players on the ice.
- The score remained at 2-2 into the second intermission thanks to a few strong saves from Norrman and Geneseo goalie Matt Petizian.
- Another Buffalo State penalty led to the game-winning goal, as Domenic Garozzo intercepted a clearance attempt by the Bengals' penalty kill, and beat Norrman to the far post for the goal.
- Buffalo State pulled Norrman for an extra attacker, but took another penalty to prevent themselves from netting an equalizer.
FOR THE FOES
- Garozzo added an assist in addition to his game-winning goal.
