Women's Basketball Takes on Geneseo in Crucial SUNYAC Matchup

Tip off at 5:30 p.m.

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team looks to pick up a crucial victory this afternoon when the Bengals travel to face SUNYAC foe Geneseo. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. from Carl Schraeder Gymnasium. Follow along with VIDEO or LIVE STATS.
 
Eyes on the Bengals
 
-Buffalo State enters this evening's contest with a 9-7 record (6-4 SUNYAC), after dominating Fredonia, 73-59, last weekend on the road. The Bengals have won four of their last five games.  
 
-Katie Villarini (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) tied her career-high with 36 points in the last game, shooting 13-17 from the field and 5-9 from 3-point range. She currently leads the conference in scoring with 23.6 points per game, a mark that is also fifth-best in the nation.   
 
-Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) has been a force on the defensive end this season, averaging a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game and 2.9 steals per game, top two in the conference in both categories.
 
-Buffalo State leads the conference in rebounding, averaging 46.7 rebounds per game.  
 
Get to Know the Knights
 
-Geneseo is 10-8 overall (7-5 SUNYAC) and tied for the fourth seed in the conference. The Knights have won three straight games and thrashed Plattsburgh, 77-38, in their last game on Saturday.
 
-Geneseo has relied on an excellent defense to win games this year. The Knights allow just 50.6 points per game, the best mark in the SUNYAC and 20th-best in the country.
 
-Mackenzie Reigle leads the Knights in scoring, averaging 9.6 points per game. Geneseo has a balanced offensive attack, with seven players averaging five or more points per game.
 
The History
 
Geneseo holds a 46-18 advantage over Buffalo State all-time, including victories in the last 15 games over the Bengals. The Knights stifled the Buffalo State offense earlier this season, holding the Bengals to just 54 points in a 62-54 victory at the Sports Arena on Dec. 4
