Men's Hockey begins final homestand with weekend matchups against Cortland and Oswego

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo State men's hockey program is back on the ice this weekend for the final home stretch of the regular season. The team welcomes Cortland on Friday, and No. 12 Oswego on Saturday. Both games will be 7 p.m. starts.

A Look at Buffalo State
  • The Bengals enter this weekend with a 5-16 overall and 3-10 conference record.
  • The team secured an exciting 3-2 overtime win at Brockport in their last outing on Friday. 
  • Connor Bizal (Elk River, MN/Boston Jr. Rangers (EHL) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with a game-tying goal on the power play in the second period. Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, NY/New Jersey Titans (NAHL) scored in the third period to grab the Bengals the lead. It was A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Lockport Regals (GOJHL) who potted the game winner in overtime to clinch the victory for Buffalo State. 
The Cortland Corner
  • The Red Dragons come into Buffalo with a 12-9-2 overall and 7-5-2 conference record.
  • Cortland sits in fourth in the league standings heading into the last weekend with 23 points, two ahead of Fredonia and Brockport.
  • The team won 3-2 in overtime at Morrisville State in their last outing on Saturday. 
  • Johnny Facchinni's two power play goals were enough to send the game into OT, where Nick Grupp netted the game winner for Cortland to grab the extra point.
The Oswego Overview
  • The Lakers, ranked 12th in the latest USCHO.com polls enter Saturday's matchup with a 16-5-1 overall and 11-2-1 conference record, looking to earn the regular season title for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
  • The team shut Morrisville State out 4-0 in their last game on February 9. They head to Fredonia on Friday before coming to Buffalo State on Saturday.
  • Goals from Connor Sleeth, Alex DiCarlo, and two from Travis Broughman were more than enough to blank the Morrisville State Mustangs. 
The History
  • Buffalo State leads the all time series versus Cortland State 30-23-9. Oswego State leads the all time series versus the Bengals, 50-4-4.
