Track and Field Set for SUNYAC Indoor Championships

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State track and field teams are looking to earn multiple podiums at the SUNYAC Championships this weekend hosted by Brockport at the Special Events Recreation Center. No spectators will be permitted at the facility. Day one of competition begins at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, while day two is Saturday at 10 a.m.

Eyes on the Bengals
 
  • The Bengal men are led by senior Collin Snyder (Buffalo, NY/JFK), who has already cleared a height of 1.89m at the Houghton December Classic this season.
  • SUNYAC Indoor Championship rookies for Buffalo State in the short sprints include Nas Muslim Dost (Buffalo, NY/Maryvale), David Ibalio (Sloatsburg, NY/Nyack), and Kel Dailey (Buffalo, NY/Rochester Prep). Dost is also the Buffalo State leader in the long jump this season.
  • Chris Goodlander (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Benaleo Daniels (Buffalo, NY/Binghamton) have top times for Buffalo State in the middle distance this season.
  • Daniel Sorge (N. Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) holds top times for the mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter races this year.
  • Mike Simpson (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) has already qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68 seconds.
  • Tyler Spencer (Elbridge, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) is the leader in the throws for the Bengals, exceeding 10 meters in both the shot put and weight throw.
  • Makhia Laster (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) leads the Bengal women in the short sprints, and has also qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 60-meter dash.
  • Seniors Clara Sensini (Kingston, NY/Kingston) and Kassidy Manke (Bufffalo, NY/Kenmore West) lead distance runners, with Sensini pacing the Bengals in the 400-meter and 500-meter dashes, and Manke registering the top times in the mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter races.
  • Tima Abdellatif (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) will look to best her weight throw season-high of 12.19 meters.
  • Destiny Rivera (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Liberal Arts) has cleared a height of 1.49 meters in the high jump this season.
 
Checking in on the Competition
 
  • The Bengals will face off against conference opponents Brockport, Cortland, Fredonia, Geneseo, Oneonta, Oswego, Plattsburgh, and Potsdam.
  • After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Geneseo looks to continue its rein of dominance in the Indoor SUNYAC Championships in both the men's and women's competitions. The Knights have won the men's and women's titles in the last four championships dating back to 2017.
