Men’s Hockey makes North Country trek this weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo State men's hockey team continues a five-game road trip with its only visit to the North Country this season, as the squad faces Plattsburgh and Potsdam in SUNYAC action this weekend.
 
The Bengals will begin the weekend with a Friday matchup at Plattsburgh and will conclude the road trip with a Saturday matchup at Potsdam. Both contests will begin at 7 p.m.

Orange and Black Outlook
- Buffalo State comes into Friday's game with a 4-14-0 overall record and a 2-0-8-1-0 mark (wins-overtime wins-losses-overtime losses-ties) in SUNYAC play, trying to stop a season-long 10-game skid. The Bengals dropped a pair of contests last weekend, falling to Fredonia by a 4-2 score, but picked up a conference point in a 3-2 overtime loss to Morrisville State.
 
-Buffalo State sits in seventh place in the conference standings with seven points, and will have to make up some ground on sixth-place Fredonia (15 points) for the final postseason spot. Including this weekend's contests, both teams have six conference games remaining and will each take on the same opponents down the stretch.
 
- Nikita Kozyrev (Tallin, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) assisted on three of the Bengals' four goals over the weekend, as the junior leads the team with 14 points and 11 assists through 17 contests.
 
- A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, N.Y./Lockport Regals) scored a goal in both games last weekend, moving up to third on the team with five goals this season.
 
- Parker Allison (Dallas, Texas/Neepawa Natives) scored his third of the season with a game-tying, power play goal in the third period of the Morrisville State contest, and Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, N.Y./New Jersey Titans) tallied his second goal of the season in Friday's contest at Fredonia. Hayden Ford (Medford, N.J./Philadelphia Revolution) assisted on Allison's power play goal, his eighth of the season.
 
 
Lookin' at Plattsburgh
- The Cardinals come into this weekend with an 11-7-3 overall record and a 7-2-4-0-1 mark in SUNYAC contests. Plattsburgh split last weekend's contests, falling to second-ranked and league-leading Geneseo by a 6-3 score, but rebounded the next day, defeating Brockport on home ice by a 4-3 score.
 
- Plattsburgh sits in third place in the league standings with 20 points, eight behind co-leaders Geneseo and Oswego. Plattsburgh's victory over Brockport pushed them into third, as they sit a point ahead of the Golden Eagles.
 
- Bennett Stockdale leads the team and is fourth in the SUNYAC with 13 goals and 23 points.
 
- The Cardinals have six players with double-digit assists, including Stockdale. Mitchell Hale and Jacob Modry each lead with 12 points, while Jack Ring and Carson Gallagher each have 11. Stockdale and Thomas Maia round out the group with 10 assists each.

- Anthony Del Tufo made 37 saves in the loss vs. Geneseo, but leads the team with a 9-7-2 record in 17 starts between the pipes, flashing a 3.13 goals against average and an .891 save percentage. 

 
Pushin P on Potsdam
- Potsdam comes into the weekend with a 2-15-1 overall record and a 1-0-10-0-1 mark in league contests this season. The Bears dropped a 12-2 decision to Geneseo last Saturday after an impressive 2-2 tie against Brockport on Friday. The Bears are looking for their first home victory this season (0-6-1).
 
- Thomas Terranova scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Bears in the Geneseo loss, and he leads the team with five goals this season, adding three assists for eight points. He has tallied a point in each of the teams' last three contests.
 
- Robert Clerc leads the team with nine points, scoring five goals and adding a team-leading five assists.
 
- Four goalies have earned a start in net, with Connor Green leading the way with nine starts. He sports a 4.19 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. Michael Paglucca has an 4.00 goals against average and an .868 save percentage in six starts.
 
 
Historical Hits
- Plattsburgh leads the all-time series 45-9-3 over Buffalo State, the last meeting going the way of the Cardinals on Nov. 19, a 5-1 decision at the Ice Arena. Marinelli provided the Bengals' lone goal.

- Potsdam holds a 33-23-4 record over Buffalo State since the Bengals inception in the 1993-94 season. The Bengals tallied a season-best seven goals in their last matchup against the Bears, a 7-1 triumph on Nov. 20. Joel Frazee (Monroe, Mich./Shreveport Mudbugs) tallied a hat-trick in the contest to lead the Bengals, who have won 11 of the last 15 games against the Bears.
