Women's Hockey Loses 5-0 to Oswego

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team dropped its penultimate home game of the season on Tuesday evening, falling 5-0 to Oswego at the Ice Arena.

-Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) made 58 saves in goal for the Bengals, her fourth game this season with 50+ saves.
 
-Kiara Haynes (Littleton, CO/Team Colorado), Katie Sarich (Columbia, MD/Washington Pride) and Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Elite Southern Express) led Buffalo State with two shots on goal each.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
-Oswego controlled play in the opening minutes of the game, but Auge kept the Lakers at bay past the midway point of the first period with some strong saves.
 
-After a Buffalo State penalty, Oswego found the back of the net for a power-play goal at 11:19 of the period, as Sophia Kyrkostas slid a shot past Auge.
 
-The score remained 1-0 at the first intermission thanks to Auge's 18 saves in the frame.
 
-Oswego added pair of goals within a minute of each other in the second period, with Rachel Corbett sending a backhanded shot into the net, and then Ashlyn McGrath firing a rebound for a goal after her initial shot hit the crossbar.
 
-The Lakers added a fourth goal with under two minutes remaining in the period to take a 4-0 lead.
 
-Oswego wrapped up the scoring at the 7:30 mark of the third period, as McGrath scored her second of the game from a scrum in front of net.
 
-Auge made 22 saves in the final period for Buffalo State.
 
FOR THE FOES
 
-McGrath finished the game with two goals and an assist, while Mack Hull added two assists and Corbett tallied a goal and an assist.
 
-Bryn White stopped all nine shots in goal for the shutout victory.
