Lacrosse Drops Tight Contest to Lycoming, 14-10

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Julia Wachna (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) scored four goals for the Buffalo State lacrosse team, but it wasn't enough as the Bengals dropped a tight non-conference contest, 14-10 on the road to Lycoming on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
 
-Wachna scored her four goals on a team-high nine shot attempts.
 
-Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore) added two goals and an assist for Buffalo State.
 
-Liz Schultheis (Brockport, NY/Holley) chipped in a goal and an assist, her fourth multi-point game of the season.
 
-Anastacia Wells (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) picked up five ground balls and had eight draw controls.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
-The teams traded goals in the early going of the contest, with the score tied at 2-2 after one period.
 
-Kacey Stack (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) and Running Rabbit scored goals within thirty seconds of each other to give Buffalo State its first lead at 4-3 at the 10:57 mark of the second quarter.
 
-Wachna added her third goal of the game at 6:10 of the second quarter, and the Bengals held a 5-4 advantage at halftime.
 
-Lycoming came out of halftime firing to take a 7-6 lead, before Tala Abdellatif (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and Sarah Fineour (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) quickly responded with goals to restore the Buffalo State lead at 8-7.
 
-The Warriors closed the quarter on a 4-0 run to hold a 11-8 lead after three quarters.
 
-Wachna and Schultheis found the back of the net to get the Bengals to within two at 12-10, but Lycoming sealed the victory with a pair of goals in the final five minutes.
 
FOR THE FOES
 
-The Warriors were led by Kailey Stocker's four goals.
 
-Tess Arnold had two goals and three assists, while Erin Henn had two goals and two assists.
