CLERMONT, Fla. – The Buffalo State softball team were unable to get its bats going on the final day of action at The Spring Games. The Bengals fell to Centre by a 5-1 score, then dropped the Florida finale to Colby, 11-3 in five innings.
GAME 1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) launched the team's first home run of the season in the fourth inning, launching a pitch clear past the left field wall for the Bengals' only run.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River, N.Y./Nanuet) led the team with two hits, going 2-for-4 with two singles.
- Centre scored in the opening inning after tallying two hits and effectively moving runners over.
- The Colonels utilized the long ball in the fourth, as Sam Rogers hit a two-out, three-run home run to left center.
- The Colonels added an insurance run in the seventh on a two-out single up the middle.
- The Bengals had runners in scoring position in the first, third, and fifth innings, but were unable to break through with a key hit.
- Olivia Carr (West Falls, N.Y./East Aurora) took the loss (1-3), allowing five earned on seven hits, in six innings pitched.
- Ella Susi (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier) came into the game in relief with a batter on in the seventh, allowing one hit and two walks in the frame.
FOR THE FOES
- Lucy Baseheart picked up the win (2-8), pitching a complete game with one earned run allowed on six hits, striking out six batters.
- Centre picked up eight hits, led by two hits apiece by Andrea Searcy and Mia Tomillo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals tallied eight hits but made three errors in the game two loss.
- Castello tallied two hits for the third consecutive game, going 2-for-3.
- Sydney McIntosh (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore West) and Deme Kellogg (Gansvoort, N.Y./South Glens Falls) also went 2-for-3.
- Colby got on the board with two runs in the first inning, eventually upping its lead to 5-0 after a run scored in the second, and two in the third.
- The Bengals made it a game in the fourth, scratching three runs after a wild pitch scored Kruse, and a Taylor Benton (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) single brought in Sam Schafer (Depew, N.Y./Lancaster) and Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, N.Y./Marlboro).
- Colby put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning, ending the game on five consecutive singles.
- Carli Bogue (Elba, N.Y./Elba) pitched four innings and struck out one in the losing effort (1-5).
- Olivia Carr (West Falls, N.Y./East Aurora) pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing two earned runs.
FOR THE FOES
- Chloe Wilcox led Colby with a 3-for-3 effort, driving in a run and scoring three times.
- Amanda Cabral led the team with four RBI on her lone hit.
- Sam Ahlholm picked up the win (1-0), allowing no earned runs on seven hits in five innings pitched.
- Payton Crowley saw four 'State batters in the fourth inning and allowed one earned run (three total) on a hit, walking two.
