BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State lacrosse team starts its SUNYAC quest on Wednesday afternoon, heading to Geneseo for a matchup with the Knights at 4 p.m. Follow along with VIDEO or LIVE STATS.
 
EYES ON THE BENGALS
 
-Buffalo State is 3-2 overall and coming off a strong defensive performance in a 11-5 victory over Alfred University last Tuesday evening. The Bengals pressured the Saxons into 38 turnovers in the game, led by three caused turnovers by Tala Abdellatif (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island).
 
-Anastacia Wells (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) is second in the SUNYAC with 25 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers, and has played in three fewer games than the leader in both categories.
 
-Janae Nelson (Elmont, NY/Elmont Memorial) leads a Buffalo State defense that allows the fewest goals per game (9.20) in the conference.
 
-Buffalo State has successfully cleared on 76 of 92 clearance attempts (82.6%), the fourth-best success rate in the conference.

-Geneseo is 4-1 overall on the season and ranked fourteenth in the most recent USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. The Knights defeated Nazareth, 20-9, in their last game, behind Hannah Marafioti's six goals.  
 
-Marafioti has 14 goals to lead Geneseo, and her 18 assists are the most in the conference this season.
 
-The Knights have committed the fewest turnovers in the conference thus far. They have only 78 through five games, as opposed to 113 turnovers by Buffalo State in five games.
 
THE HISTORY
 
The Knights hold a 22-3 edge over the Bengals since 1996, including 11 consecutive victories. Geneseo defeated Buffalo State 22-3 in the last meeting of the teams in 2021.
