BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team is back in action today, hosting SUNYAC and "Battle by the Lake" foe Fredonia in a doubleheader at Softball Field. Games will begin at a 3 p.m.

EYES ON THE BENGALS
-Buffalo State is 8-16 overall (2-6 SUNYAC). The Bengals split a pair of non-conference contests at home against Nazareth on Wednesday evening.
-Four players have played in every game for Buffalo State this season.
Oriana Castello (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet),
Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas),
Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South), and
Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) have each started all 24 games.

Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro) each have three sacrifice bunts this season to lead Buffalo State, while teammate

-After recording a pair of stolen bases in the second game against Nazareth,
Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) has now stolen a base in three consecutive games. She is 7-for-7 on the season, the most steals without being caught on the team.
BREAKING DOWN THE BLUE DEVILS
-Fredonia is 6-18 overall (3-5 SUNYAC), and riding a six-game losing streak after falling in doubleheaders to New Paltz and Oneonta on Monday and Tuesday.
-The Blue Devils average just 2.0 runs per game, and are led at the plate by Amber Piniewski and Maria Caviris. Piniewski leads the team with a .343 batting average, while Caviris has a .320 average and a team-best .469 on-base percentage by drawing 11 free passes and three hit by pitches.
-Emily Chelius heads the Fredonia pitching staff, tossing 69.2 innings with a 5.02 earned run average.

Buffalo State has been dominant against Fredonia, holding a 42-9 advantage over the Blue Devils since 1996. Buffalo State swept Fredonia in 2021 behind a complete-game shutout from
Olivia Carr (West Falls, NY/East Aurora), as well as five doubles by
Caitlyn Parsons in a 7-for-7 day at the plate.
