HENRIETTA, N.Y. – The Buffalo State softball team tallied an impressive 37 hits and 20 runs in a doubleheader sweep of RIT at the RIT Softball Complex Wednesday afternoon. The Bengals edged RIT by a 14-11 score in a 10-inning game one, then finished the sweep with a 6-1 victory in game two.

- The Bengals tallied a season-high 27 hits and 14 runs in the game one victory.
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) went 5-for-6 with three runs scored and two driven in.
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) continued her torrid approach at the plate, going 5-for-6 with three doubles and four runs driven in.
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River, N.Y./Nanuet) went 5-for-7, driving in three runs while scoring two more.
- Taylor Benton (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) and Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) each tallied three hits.
- Kennedy Cotton (Buffalo, N.Y./Depew) made her first collegiate start in right field, tallying a hit and driving in a run.
- Ella Susi (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier) started in the circle for the Bengals, allowing four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings, striking out three.
- Olivia Carr (West Falls, N.Y./East Aurora) pitched the final 4 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out a batter to improve to 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- One out hits by Benton and Kruse set the table for a four-run first inning, as Parsons, Wolinski, and Jenna Wlostowski (Lancaster, N.Y./Alden) drove in runs.
- RIT cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the frame, scoring two on a pair of one-out, RBI singles.
- Buffalo State scored three in the second inning, as the first six batters reached base.
- The Bengals extended their lead to seven (9-2) in the third, as Castello and Benton tallied one-out RBI singles.
- The Tigers got two back in the fourth, on a two-RBI single by Hannah Trumble into center field.
- Cotton extended the 'State lead in the sixth, dribbling an RBI single past the pitcher up the middle, scoring Parsons as the Bengals led 10-4.
- RIT responded with three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh, tying the game at 10 as the game headed into extras.
- After a scoreless eighth and ninth inning for both teams, Parsons and Wolinski broke the tie with RBI hits to begin the 10th.
- Kellogg and Castello then finished the rally with RBI singles to take a 14-10 lead.
- The Tigers took advantage of a Bengal miscue in the bottom of the 10th, but could only score once as Buffalo State finished off the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Trumble finished with three hits, driving in four runs and scoring twice to lead RIT.
- Lillian Rienstra also tallied three hits, driving in two runs.
- Lexi Pieri took the loss in relief, dropping to 2-7 after allowing six earned on 21 hits over the final nine innings.

- Parsons, Wolinski, and Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, N.Y./South Glens Falls) led the Bengals with two hits each.
- Parsons has now reached base in 13 consecutive games.
- Castello and Benton tallied a hit to increase their respective hit streaks to seven games.
- Carli Bogue (Elba, N.Y./Elba) twirled a three-hit gem over seven innings, striking out five batters to earn her third victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Once again, the Bengals struck in the opening inning, as Benton tallied an RBI single up the middle, and a bases loaded walk scored Wlostowski.
- Kellogg tallied the Bengals' third run, singling to center field in the third inning.
- A throwing error then scored Wolinski, before Wlostowski singled in her second run, as the Benglals led 5-0.
- RIT tallied its lone run in the bottom of the frame, scoring on an error.
- Kellogg finished the scoring with her second RBI single in the sixth inning.
FOR THE FOES
- Crystal Madore dropped to 3-10 on the season, allowing six earned runs, striking out three batters in seven innings.
- Trumble, Elise Guth, and Bailey Kehl tallied the hits.
