As Buffalo State celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, the athletics department will spotlight a moment from its history each week during the spring semester.

Did you know Buffalo State used to have a baseball team?
In 1928, students voted to increase the student tax from $2.50 to $3.75 to allow for the formation of a collegiate baseball team.
The first season of baseball at Buffalo State took place that year, becoming the second men's team sport at the school, after basketball. On May 18, 1929, they defeated Brockport in the first home match of the program's history.Â
Special thanks to the Archives & Special Collections Department of SUNY Buffalo State for their help with research for this project.
