Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw Against Mount Saint Mary

FREDONIA, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team wrapped up play in the Fredonia Invitational on Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless draw with Mount Saint Mary College.

  • Manu Prieto (Cascais, Portugal/Salesianos de Estoril) led the Bengals with four shot attempts in the game. 
  • Shae Wirt (Overland Park, KS/St. Thomas Aquinas) made three saves in goal to keep his first clean sheet of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • One of Buffalo State's best chances came just before halftime, as Frank Colella (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) struck the top of the crossbar with a shot.
  • The teams entered halftime scoreless despite the Bengals holding an 8-1 advantage in shot attempts and a 3-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
  • The Bengals had a pair of shots on target in the second half, but were not able to beat the Mount Saint Mary goalkeeper.
  • Buffalo State held a shot advantage of 12-4 for the game. 
FOR THE FOES
  • Caesar Martinez made five saves in keeping a clean sheet.

UP NEXT
Buffalo State will hope to get back on the right track on Tuesday evening, traveling to face Alfred University at 8 p.m. The Bengals defeated the Saxons 6-1 in their last meeting last season.
