BUFFALO, NY – A.J. Haase (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South scored her first goal of the season in the 78
th minute to earn a 1-1 draw for the Buffalo State women's soccer team against Houghton in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Coyer Field.

- Macey Gioeli (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda) added her first assist of the season on the goal.
- Bella Vene (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) made five saves in goal for the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Houghton had the first strong chance of the game in the 23rd minute, but Vene made a diving stop to her left to divert the ball behind for a corner kick.
- The Highlanders struck first just before halftime, as Rileigh Studley struck a perfect free kick from outside the 18-yard box, a left-footed curling shot into the top right corner of the net.
- Houghton took the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
- Buffalo State turned up the pressure in the second half, and was rewarded with the equalizing goal late in the 78th minute.
- Gioeli sent a corner kick into a dangerous area of the penalty area, and Haase connected perfectly on a header to beat the Houghton goalkeeper.
- Both teams pressed for a winner in the final minutes, but to no avail as the game ended at 1-1.
FOR THE FOES
- Studley's goal came on one of three of her shot attempts in the game.
- Megan Merrifield made eight saves in goal for the Highlanders.
