BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team opened SUNYAC play with a Battle by the Lake victory over Fredonia tonight by a final score of 2-1.

- Kaylee Valentic (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda) scored the Bengals first goal off a corner kick from Macey Gioeli (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda).
- Gioeli added a goal of her own off a free kick in the second half, proving to be the difference maker.
- Bella Vene (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) made five saves in goal for Buffalo State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams came out an attacked early on as both early goals were scored within the first five minutes.
- Valentic's goal off a corner kick got Buffalo State on the board first.
- Fredonia's Brianna Grazen scored right after to even the score 1-1.
- Defense remained strong for both sides the remainder of the half.
- After a Fredonia penalty, Gioeli's free kick found the net to give Buffalo State the lead.
- Vene made multiple crucial saves down the stretch to secure the Bengals win.
