Women's Basketball On the Road for Pair of SUNYAC Contests

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team is on the road this weekend, heading east to take on New Paltz on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and Oneonta on Saturday at 2 p.m.

EYES ON THE BENGALS
  • Buffalo State enters play for the weekend with a 2-15 overall record (1-9 SUNYAC) after defeating Fredonia by a final score of 60-53 on Friday night at the Sports Arena. Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putnam Science Academy, CT) scored 22 points in the victory for the Bengals.
  • Cornfield leads Buffalo State, and is fifth in the conference, with 13.5 points per game. She also leads the conference with 2.2 steals per game.
  • Since the start of 2023, Jadyn Jones (Gowanda, NY/Lake Shore) is averaging 10.7 points per game on an incredible .510 shooting percentage from the field, including a career-high 16 points against Cortland.

  • The Hawks are rolling into the weekend on an 11-game winning streak, with a 14-3 overall record (10-0 SUNAYC). New Paltz defeated Oswego State in its last game on Saturday by a final score of 74-47.
  • Brianna Fitzgerald is amongst the conference leaders in points (7th – 13.2), rebounds (7th – 7.3), assists (4th – 3.0), steals (1st – 2.2), and blocks (10th – 0.7).
  • The New Paltz defense allows the fewest points in the conference at 49.5 points allowed per game, while averaging the second-most points at 65.8 points per game.
 
RESEARCHING THE RED DRAGONS
  • Oneonta enters the weekend with a 12-5 overall record (7-3 SUNYAC) after falling to Cortland 52-45 on Saturday afternoon.
  • Jenna Harclerode's 8.2 rebounds per game rank fourth in the SUNYAC this season.
  • Oneonta is the second-highest rebounding team in the conference at 44.1 boards per game.
