BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team scored early and often in a 7-1 victory over Alfred University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening on Coyer Field.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/Cairo Durham), Manu Prieto (Cascais, Portugal/Salesianos Do Estoril), and Jospeh Desmonie (Valatie, NY/Ichabad Crane) each recorded a goal and an assist.
- JB Almontaser (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) had two assists.
- Aney Djadou (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) and Stephen Haven (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) each netted their first collegiate goals, while Yousif Kowa (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) and Nacho Caceres (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) both also scored.
- Riley Quinn (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Julian Hughes (Westmount, QC/Dawson) both recorded assists.
- Max Shoemaker (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) earned the win in goal with two saves, while Adrian Contreras (Madrid, Spain/Hipatia Fuhem) saw his first action in goal, making one save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivera had a great chance to open the scoring in the first 30 seconds, but was denied by a strong save from the Alfred goalkeeper.
- Rivera got his revenge in the ninth minute, taking a through ball from Prieto, dribbling around the keeper, and depositing into the empty net to open the scoring.
- Kowa doubled the Buffalo State advantage in the 14th minute, heading a corner kick into the left corner of the net off an assist from Almontaser.
- Prieto scored just four minutes later with a left-footed shot into the far right corner of the net to make it 3-0.
- In the 20th minute, Quinn's cross from the right side found the head of Caceres, who directed it into the goal for his second goal of the year.
- In the 41st minute, Djadou was brought down by a foul in the penalty area, and calmly finished his penalty kick to the keeper's right to make it 5-0.
- The Saxons struck for a goal with just three seconds left in the half to make it 5-1 at halftime.
- Goals by Haven and Desmonie in the final ten minutes capped the scoring for the Bengals.
