BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team earned a huge 3-3 draw with the visiting Plattsburgh Cardinals this afternoon in a thriller on Coyer Field.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Hannah Esslie (Cairo, NY/Cairo-Durham) led the Bengals with two goals, including the game tying goal late in the second half
- Elle Bush (Middleboro, MA/Middleboro) added a goal of her own.
- Emma Hesseltine (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) and Carm Mercurio (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) each picked up an assist.
- Sam Kaufman (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East) made eight saves in the effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Plattsburgh got on the board first after a head from Allison Brown.
- The Bengals came right back to tie it after a penalty kick opportunity from Esslie went right back the Cardinals goalie.
- Both sides remained deadlocked the rest of the half.
- After a quick pass from Hesseltine, Bush carried the ball around a Plattsburgh defender and sunk a hook shot in the back of the net to give Buffalo State the lead.
- The Cardinals offense came storming back scoring two goals over two minutes after a corner kick goal and another open opportunity in front of the net.
- The Bengals refused to give up as Esslie took a shot the was just out of the reach of the Cardinals goalie tying the game with 12 minutes remaining.
- Both sides continued to push but were unable to break the draw.
- The final three goals combined were scored within two minutes of each other.
- Plattsburgh outshot the Bengals with a 25-9 margin.
FOR THE FOES
- Brown also had an assist in the effort.
- Zoe Rica and Catrina Maltes each scored as well for the Cardinals.
- Lauren Haley made four saves in goal for Plattsburgh.
