POTSDAM, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team swept the Potsdam Bears this afternoon to officially clinch the #5 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament at Maxcy Hall.

- Erin Mergler (Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) led the team with eight kills.
- Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) dished out 21 assists and had four service aces.
- Adi Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico/Kingdom Christian) and Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) combined for 16 digs.
- Buffalo State registered a .277 hitting percentage in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State dominated the opening set winning six of the first seven points.
- The Bengals rallied off a 6-0 run before cruising to a win in the first set scoring the last seven points.
- Buffalo kept the offense coming in the second set jumping out to a quick 6-0 lead after a pair of kills from Mergler.
- The Bears scored five of the next six points to crawl back into the action.
- After a 6-0 run later in the set, the Bengals held the advantage the rest of the way claiming the second set in dominate fashion.
- The Bengals jumped out to an 8-0 start in the final set thanks to a pair of kills from Nicole Delli Colli (Rye, NY/Rye) and Eden Harrison (Eldersburg, MD/Century).
- The Bears steadily tried to get back into the action, but the Bengals held strong scoring five of the last six points to secure their second straight sweep.
FOR THE FOES
- Alyssa Adams led the Bears with a match-high 11 kills.
- Madison Gilliland had nine digs while Sophia Layer had 14 assists.

The Bengals return to action on next Saturday as they travel to the University of Rochester for a non-conference matchup to finish the regular season.
