BUFFALO, NY – Visiting Fredonia scored just 2:20 into the opening period, and the Buffalo State men's hockey team was unable to overcome a slow start in a 4-1 loss on Saturday evening at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Fredonia tallied the opening goal on a rebound after Cumberworth stopped an initial shot from the left blue line.
  • A redirection in front of goal from a shot from the right point gave Fredonia a 2-0 before the midway point of the period.
  • Allison was stopped on a breakaway after the expiration of his penalty late in the period as Fredonia led 2-0 at the intermission.
  • The Blue Devils went up 3-0 in the second period as Antoine St. Onge tapped in a shot at the far post after a solid pass by Ethan Pitzman.
  • Fredonia goalie Charles-Anthony Barbeau stopped 25 shots in the first two periods to keep the 3-0 advantage into the second intermission.
  • The Bengals got on the board 7:01 into the third period as LaValley redirected a shot from the point by Allison to finally break up the shutout.
  • Fredonia answered back with a shot from the slot with less than seven minutes remaining to put the game out of reach.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Barbeau made 40 saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
  • Baxter Kimball scored twice for Fredonia.
