Men's Hockey Drops Non-Conference Matchup at Hobart

GENEVA, NY – Nationally-ranked No. 3 Hobart scored two goals in each of the first two periods on Friday evening, coming away with a decisive 4-0 victory over the Buffalo State men's hockey team in non-conference action.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Drew Doran (Orchard Park, NY/Utica University) stopped 34 shots in goal for the Bengals in relief without allowing a goal.
  • Gage Brown (Raymond, NE/Anchorage Wolverines) won three of four faceoffs for Buffalo State.
  • Timur Gavrilovich (Minsk, Belarus/South Shore Kings) blocked four shots for the Bengals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A pair of goals in the span of 69 seconds early in the first period gave Hobart an early 2-0 lead.
  • Liam Gross (Fort Washington, PA/New Jersey Rockets) made 15 saves in the first period as the Statesmen outshot the Bengals 17-4.
  • Hobart scored less than three minutes into the second period, then added a power-play goal a few minutes later to make it 4-0.
  • Doran came on in relief after the fourth goal and made 17 stops in the period to keep the score at 4-0.
  • The Bengals were unable to muster any goals, but Doran stood strong in the final period as well, making 17 more saves in the third.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Matthieu Wuth and Artem Buzoverya each had a goal and an assist.
  • Damon Beaver stopped all 15 shots he faced for a shutout in goal.
