HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team scored in the first period, as Buffalo State held a 13-9 edge in shots on goal in the frame.
- The Bengals got on the board first 8:29 into the second period, as LaValley deflected a Morrisville shot into the corner, Allison fed Kiriakov near the Bengals' blue line, and Kiriakov skated from his own end of the ice and finished past the goalie with a backhand.
- Morrisville took advantage of a Buffalo State penalty to score the equalizer just before the midway point of the period with a power-play goal from a dangerous area in front of goal.
- The Mustangs took the lead into the intermission after another power-play goal with 7.6 seconds left in the period, after a shot slipped under the pads of Cumberworth.
- Cumberworth came up huge for Buffalo State early in the third period, making a pair of huge saves, including a breakaway save to keep the deficit at one.
- With just over two minutes remaining, the Bengals pulled Cumberworth for an extra attacker to net to tying goal. After Allison's shot from the point was redirected by Stuckless and saved by the Morrisville goalie, LaValley was able to scoop the loose puck and score on a wrist shot as he was fading away from the goal.
- After head coach Steve Murphy used his timeout to strategize the final 55.1 seconds, his play worked to perfection.
- A faceoff win by Glamos sent the puck to Blango, who sent a high shot into the Morrisville zone. The goalie attempted to collect the puck, but lost his balance and the puck fell to Kiriakov, who slid a pass to Glamos for the game winner with 44.9 seconds left in the game.
- The Bengals were able to kill the final seconds to secure the victory.
