BUFFALO, NY – Three Bengals scored in double figures, and the Buffalo State pulled away in the second half for a 69-40 victory over SUNY Poly to kick off the Betty Abgott Invitational on Friday evening.

- Jadyn Jones (The Seneca Nation, Lake Shore) and Grace Carey (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) each totaled 10 points.
- Adiya Jones (Washington, DC/McKinley Tech) and Xaneya Thomas (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) each grabbed six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded baskets early in first quarter, before Buffalo State closed the quarter on a 6-0 run thanks to baskets by Cornfield, Maddy Stearns (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Josie Fleming (Clarence, NY/Clarence)
- Buffalo State extended the lead to 13 points at halftime thanks to a basket with four seconds remaining by Thomas.
- An 13-2 run to begin the second half gave the Bengals at 50-26 edge, as Buffalo State outscored the Wildcats 21-6 in the frame.
- With the game well in control heading into the fourth quarter, the Bengals held SUNY Poly to just 10 points in the final frame to squash any hopes of a comeback.
