POTSDAM, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team fell short in an overtime thriller against Clarkson University tonight, 79-73, in a non-conference matchup at the Alumni Gymnasium.

- Xaneya Thomas (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) led the Bengals on offense with 16 points in the effort.
- Tashawni Cornfield (The Seneca Nation/Putnam Science Academy, CT) registered a double-double performance notching 11 points and 14 rebounds.
- Maddy Stearns (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Emma Cohen (Utica, NY/TR Proctor) each had double-digit performances tallying 15 and 11 points, respectively.
- Buffalo State outrebounded Clarkson with a narrow 52-50 margin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State dominated the opening quarter jumping out to a quick 7-0 start.
- Clarkson attempted top crawl back into the action, but the Bengals offense stayed aggressive and grew their lead to 11 by the end of the first quarter after a layup from Cornfield.
- The Golden Knights stormed back in the second quarter scoring 12 of the first 13 points following a pair of free throws from Cassidy Dumont.
- The Bengals offense held tough and went into halftime leading 30-29.
- Buffalo State pulled away again in the third, but Clarkson rallied late to only trail by two with one quarter of action left.
- After Stearns gave the Bengals the lead at the free throw line, Clarkson returned the favor and tied things up again at the free throw line with :22 seconds remaining.
- Once the Golden Knights took the lead early in overtime, they were able to hold off the Bengals in the final seconds.
FOR THE FOES
- Bella Doyle tallied a double-doubled with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
- Raelin Burns scored 20 points of her own along with seven rebounds.
