BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team dropped the SUNYAC opener on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 70-58 to Fredonia at the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State raced out to a 10-7 lead in the first quarter after a jumper by Stearns with 4:45 remaining in the quarter.
- The Bengals extended the lead to six at 17-11 in the final minute after a pair of free throws by Emma Cohen (Utica, NY/TR Proctor), before a 3-pointer by Fredonia cut the lead to just three at the end of the quarter.
- A 14-6 run by the Blue Devils gave Fredonia a five-point edge with 3:13 remaining in the half.
- Stearns knocked down one of two free throws in the final seconds of the half, as Fredonia led 31-30.
- The Blue Devils extended their lead to 11 in the third quarter, but Buffalo State closed the frame on a 6-0 run to trail 51-46 after three quarters.
- Buffalo State pulled to within three twice in the fourth quarter, but the Bengals couldn't find the tying basket.
- Fredonia scored the final eight points to secure the victory.
