BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team dropped a non-conference contest at home to William Smith College on Tuesday evening by a final score of 5-2 at the Ice Arena.

- Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) and Carys Ursell (Calgary, AB/Calgary Fire) each scored a goal for Buffalo State.
- Quinn Murray (Stuyvesant, NY/Troy-Albany Ice Cats) and Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, QC/St. Lawrence Steel) each recorded their team-leading third assist of the year.
- Lilli Adimey (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Bisons) and Katie Sarich (Columbia, MD/Washington Pride) also recorded an assist apiece.
- Chelsea Kingston (Sault Ste. Marie, ON/Soo Jr. Greyhounds) stopped 36 shots in her first collegiate start.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals came out strong in the first period, but were unable to find the back of the net with a few chances early in the frame.
- William Smith opened the scoring with under three minutes remaining in the period, as a puck from the right point redirected off a skate and past Kingston to give the Herons a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
- A turnover in the neutral zone early in the second period allowed William Smith to double the advantage, as Kayla Ketchabaw netted with a wrist shot only 49 seconds into the period.
- The Herons took advantage of a turnover in the Buffalo State defensive zone for a 3-0 lead at the 4:27 mark of the period.
- Buffalo State responded with a goal in the final minute, as Willick knocked in a rebound after her initial shot from in front of goal had been saved.
- The Bengals pulled to within one early in the third period, as Sarich sprung Ursell on a breakaway with a great lead pass, and Ursell buried a wrist shot into the top right corner of the net.
- William Smith scored less than two minutes later, on a scramble in front of the net after an initial shot was saved off of the post.
- The Herons netted a power-play goal past the midway point of the third period for the final tally.
FOR THE FOES
- Elizabeth MacMurray led William Smith with two goals, while Ava Cornforth had a goal and an assist.
