Men's Hockey Earns Win Over Lawrence University

APPLETON, WI – Led by a pair of goals from Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk), the Buffalo State men's ice hockey team earned a non-conference win tonight against Lawrence University with a 3-2 final at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Figueroa got the scoring started with his first goal of the season off the feed from Messing.
  • Doran made a save at the end of the period to keep the Bengals ahead.
  • In the second, Kiriakov scored his first goal of the night on a power-play opportunity.
  • The Vikings attempted again at the end of the period to get on the board, however, Doran and the Bengals' defense were able to hold strong and keep Lawrence off the scoreboard.
  • Kiriakov found the back of the net again early in the final period for his third goal of the season.
  • Shortly after, the Vikings were able to get on the scoreboard with their first goal of the night.
  • The Vikings found the net again shortly after to pull within one of the Bengals.
  • In the final minutes of action, Doran was able to make a pair of crucial saves along with a pair of blocks from Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives) to keep the Bengals ahead for the win.
FOR THE FOES
  • Cole Schneider and Miles McCue each scored for the Vikings.
  • Nolan Mahaffey made 30 saves in the effort.

The Bengals return to action on Friday as they travel to Brockport for a SUNYAC matchup with the Golden Eagles.
