GENEVA, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team wrapped up the 2023 year with a 4-1 loss to William Smith in non-conference action on Saturday evening.

- Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, QC/St. Lawrence Steel) recorded an assist.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) stopped 39 shots for the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kelly Howe opened the scoring for William Smith just over five minutes into the opening period.
- The Bengals outshot the Herons in the first period 12-8, but were unable to find the back of the net.
- The Herons scored a pair of goals late in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.
- Howe scored her third goal of the night just over three minutes into the third period.
- Ramseier got the Bengals on the board just past the midway point of the period.
- Neither team was able to score in the final minutes as William Smith completed the victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Howe scored a hat trick to lead the Herons.
- Erin Murray made 20 saves for the victory in goal.
