Women's Hockey Falls to #3 Plattsburgh

BUFFALO, NY – Nationally-third ranked Plattsburgh scored twice in the opening four minutes of the game, setting the tone in a 5-0 victory over the Buffalo State women's hockey team on Friday afternoon at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Plattsburgh got on the board first at the 3:14 mark of the opening period, as Ivy Boric snapped a wrist shot from near the goal line after an initial shot deflected off of a Cardinal attacker.
  • The Cardinals scored again just 21 seconds later, from a shot right in front of goal after a turnover.
  • Plattsburgh added a third goal just after the midway point of the period, on a wrist shot from the slot by Bridget Orr.
  • Auge turned aside 16 shots in the first period to keep the score at 3-0 into the first intermission.
  • Plattsburgh goalie Ashley Davis stopped a short-handed breakaway attempt by Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) early in the second period to deny the best Buffalo State opportunity of the game.
  • Neither team was able to score in the second period, as Auge came up with 16 more saves.
  • Plattsburgh added a pair of insurance goals in the third period for the final tallies of the day.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Five different players scored for Plattsburgh, and eight players recorded an assist.
