CLERMONT, FL – The Buffalo State softball team dropped a pair of contests at Legends Way Field, falling to Millikin and Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Sunday morning.
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORES
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) went 2-for-4 over the two games, including a double, and scored a run.
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) drove in a run, and also chipped in a pair of hits.
- Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) singled and stole a base for the Bengals.
- Cam O'Hara (Troy, NY/Catholic Central) and Olivia Kowalik (Amherst, NY/Amherst) each had their first hit for Buffalo State, and O'Hara drove in a run as well.
GAME 1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Millikin took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out RBI double, and added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third on another two-out hit to lead 3-0 after three.
- The Big Blue scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice bunt and single through the right side of the infield.
- A two-out rally by the Bengals led to the lone Buffalo State run, as Wolinski lifted a hit into right center, and hustled into second base to beat a relay throw. Parsons then chopped a grounder that took an unpredictable bounce past the second basemen, scoring Wolinski from second.
- Once again, Millikin came through with a two-out hit to bring the score to 6-1.
FOR THE FOES
- Buffalo State was unable to get anything going against Millikin starting pitcher Aly Armstrong, who punched out 16 Bengals over six effective innings.
- Five of the six runs for the Big Blue came with two outs.
GAME 2 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Titans scored four runs in the first, and three in the second to open up a 7-0 lead after two innings.
- Wisconsin-Oshkosh extended its lead to 11-0 by scoring a run apiece in the third and fourth innings, and two more in the fifth inning.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Megan Galbraith (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Kowalik each reached base safely on a hit by pitch and a liner to left field, before O'Hara lined a RBI single through the right side of the infield to conclude a 10-pitch at bat.
- Kowalik scored on a wild pitch a few plays later, but it was too late for Buffalo State to make a comeback.
FOR THE FOES
- Sophie Wery homered and drove in six runs for the Titans.
- Sydney Nemetz pitched four shutout innings, allowing just two hits.
