Nikita Kozyrev Earns a Pair of All-America Honors

BUFFALO, NY – Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) of the Buffalo State men's hockey team concluded his collegiate career with a pair of national honors, being named a 2022-23 CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Second Team All-American, as well as selection to the All-United States College Hockey Organization (USCHO) Division III third team.

Kozyrev is just the fifth Bengal to be selected on an All-America team, and the first since Michael Anthony Guerrera in the 2017-18 season. He joins Guerrera, Mike DeLaVergne (2016-17), Kevin Carr (2013-14), and Todd Nowicki (2001-02) in this elite company.

Kozyrev registered 33 points on a team-high 14 goals, and dished out 19 assists. The senior business major recorded at least one point in 18 of 26 games played this season, including a pair of four-point nights in victories over Morrisville and Brockport.

He was a First Team All-SUNYAC selection, and also became just the second Bengal to take home SUNYAC Herb Hammond Player of the Year honors.

Kozyrev was an integral part of helping Buffalo State reach the SUNYAC Semifinals for the eighth time in the last 10 seasons, scoring a goal and adding an assist as the Bengals secured a 3-2 victory over Cortland in the SUNYAC First Round.

(UPDATE MARCH 29:  Kozyrev was named to the All-USCHO Division III Third Team)
