CLERMONT, FL – The Buffalo State softball team dropped a pair of contests in the penultimate day of play at THE Spring Games on Friday, falling to Trinity 4-3, and Grinnell 7-1.

GAME 1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Trinity – 4, Buffalo State – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A leadoff single, stolen base, groundout and wild pitch allowed Trinity to score the opening runs of the game in the top of the first inning.
- Buffalo State responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning, as Oriana Castello (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) walked, advanced to third on Bielicki's bunt single, and scored on Wolinski's RBI groundout. Bielicki trotted home two batters later on a RBI single through the right side of the infield by Congelosi.
- The second of four Tiffany Stowers' hits tied the game up in the top of the third inning, taking advantage of a Buffalo State fielding error.
- The Bantams struck for a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning, as Alyssa Gazivoda lined a two-run single up the middle.
- The Bengals got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, as Congelosi sent a grounder through the middle to drive in Wolinski.
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) allowed just one hit over the final two innings to keep the deficit at 4-3, but the Bengals were unable to equalize despite having runners on base in their final two chances at bat.
FOR THE FOES
- Stowers pitched a complete game to earn the victory in addition to her four hits.
GAME 2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Grinnell – 7, Buffalo State – 1
LOCATION: Legends Way Complex – Clermont, FL
RECORDS: Buffalo State (5-5), Grinnell (9-5)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grinnell struck for a run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Pioneers added another run in the second, but Buffalo State limited the damage with a great defensive play on a relay from Castello to Congelosi to Wolinski to gun down a runner at third base.
- The Bengals scratched out a run in the top of the fourth inning, as O'Hara sent a line drive to left center to drive in Wolinski.
- Grinnell added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning, then scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to build a cushion.
FOR THE FOES
- Taylor Durak smacked a three-run homer to left field in the sixth inning, and Christin Hartman pitched a complete game to earn the victory in the circle.
