BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team pounded out 32 runs over two games to earn a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader over Medaille on Tuesday afternoon at the Softball Field, extending their winning streak to six games.
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORES
- Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) led Buffalo State offensively, going 4-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBI.
- Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) was 4-for-4 with three doubles, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
- Sydney Bielicki (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) hammered her first home run of the season, had three hits, drove in three runs, and scored four runs.
- Grace Albano (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) scored three runs and drove in three runs, while pitching five innings and allowing just one unearned run.
- Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) had three hits and drove in four runs, while Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro) drove in three runs.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) and Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) each recorded the victories on the rubber.
- Sixteen different Bengals recorded a hit in the doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals got off to a quick start, scoring five runs in the first inning on a pair of two-run singles by Kruse and Shuta, as well as an RBI double by Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls.
- The Mavericks loaded the bases up in the second with nobody out, but Lucas pitched out of danger by recording a strikeout and inducing an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play.
- Buffalo State scored four more runs in the second inning, capped by a two-run blast to left center by Kruse to make it 9-0.
- The Bengals scored five more runs in the third inning, and five more in the fourth inning, as Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), Meghan Baio (Youngstown, NY/Lewiston-Porter), Megan Galbraith (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) had RBIs, and Albano and Paolilli each drove in three runs.
- The Mavericks were able to scratch an unearned run across, but could not get back in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mavericks pushed across an unearned run in the top of the first inning, and Buffalo State responded by scoring nine runs of their own.
- Congelosi and Bielicki had back-to-back bunt singles and both came around to score on a pair of defensive misplays.
- After Olivia Kowalik (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Paolilli recorded RBI singles, Shuta sent a sacrifice fly to center to make it 5-1. Congelosi followed it with a double to left center and Bielicki hammered a deep fly ball just over the fence in right center to cap the scoring.
- An RBI single up the middle by Bielicki and three-run homer by Kruse, her second home run of the day made it 13-1.
- Albano pitched two solid innings in relief to close out the victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Bri Wark reached base three times on two walks and a hit for Medaille.
