BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team extended its winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Potsdam by final scores of 9-2 and 10-0 on Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOOX SCORES
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led the Bengals with five hits, including a pair of doubles, to reach 100 hits for her career in less than three seasons.
- Sydney Bielicki (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and Sarah Congelosi (Mongomery, NY/Valley Central) each went 4-for-7 for the day.
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) had four hits and three RBIs.
- Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro) also drove in three runs.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) allowed just one earned run in a complete game victory in game one, while Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) threw her third shutout of the year in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears got the scoring started with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 2-0 lead.
- Buffalo State pulled back a run on Oriana Castello's (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) RBI single in the second.
- An RBI single by Parsons, and a sacrifice fly by Shuta, gave the Bengals a 3-2 lead in the third.
- The Bengals added three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to extend the lead to 8-2.
- Bielicki's RBI double in the seventh completed the scoring.
- Lucas surrended just three hits over the final innings of the game to secure the complete game victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Shuta delivered a two-run single to right field to gave the Bengals the lead for good.
- Buffalo State added six runs in the fourth inning, as Castello and Congelosi each drove in a pair of runs, while Parsons and Wolinski had one RBI in the inning.
- Sam Schafer (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and Meghan Baio (Youngstown, NY/Lewiston-Porter) each pitched in RBI singles in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 10-0.
- Schnitzer scattered four hits and struck out two batters on the rubber for the victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Kelsey Bennett had two of Potsdam's four hits in game two, and also stole a base.
