CORTLAND, NY – The Buffalo State softball team dropped a pair of SUNYAC contests on Thursday afternoon to Cortland.
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORES
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) went 3-for-5 for the day, while Oriana Castello (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) was 3-for-6.
- Sydney Bielicki (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had a hit, walked twice, and drove in a run.
- Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst) chipped in a pinch hit for Buffalo State.
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) allowed four earned runs over six innings on the mound in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Dragons got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single by Mackenna Barry.
- Julz Koch's two-run homer in the second extended the lead to 3-0.
- The Bengals responded with a run in the third, as Castello doubled to deep center, and Bielicki drove her in with a slap single to second base.
- Cortland tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth.
- Buffalo State was unable to do any damage in the final two innings, despite a leadoff single by Hurley in the seventh inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Dragons scored five runs in the first inning, including a home run by Kimberly Westenberg.
- Cortland added five more runs in the second to take a 10-0 lead.
- The Bengals shut down Cortland in the final two innings, but were unable to get their bats going for the remainder of the game.
