Women's Lacrosse Takes Win Over Potsdam

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team won their final home game of the season by a final score of 19-12 against the Potsdam Bears this afternoon at Coyer Field.

  • Sarah Fineour (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East), Lauren Rinow (Lakeview, NY/Frontier), and Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) each scored four goals to lead the Bengal offense.
  • Emilee Josker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) tallied three goals of her own as well as an assist and eight draw controls.
  • Willick, Anna Cinquino (Conesus, NY/Livonia), and Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) each had two assists.
  • Beth Kulikowski (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and Moira Penot (Clifton Heights, PA/Upper Darby) combined for nine saves in the win.
  • Buffalo State outshot Potsdam by a 38-24 margin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State got the offense started as Rinow scored off the pass from Fineour.
  • Potsdam would respond shortly after.
  • After each side scored once more, the Bengals would score five unanswered to close out the first.
  • The Bears would score first in the second before the Bengals went on another 5-0 run capped off as Lindsay Wademan (Owego, Ny/Owego Free Academy) scored her first goal of the year.
  • Buffalo State went into halftime up 13-5.
  • The Bengals offense would sit in the driver's seat in the second half seeing their lead increase to a game-high of 10.
  • Willick's goal in the fourth would finish the Bengals offensive attack to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lindsay LaDue tallied five goals for the Bears.
  • Jane Olszewski and Olivia Minarich combined for 14 saves in the effort.

The Bengals are back in action on Wednesday as they wrap-up the regular season at Brockport.
