BUFFALO, NY – Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) from the women's lacrosse team and Jenna Wlostowski (Lancaster, NY/Alden) from the softball team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week for their respective performances this past week.
 
Willick, a freshman childhood education major, had two strong games for Buffalo State last week, scoring 10 points on seven goals and three assists. She also added 16 draw controls, picked up eight ground balls, and caused five turnovers. In a 19-12 victory over Potsdam on Saturday, Willick scored four goals and added a pair of assists for the Bengals. She also recorded six draw controls, caused four turnovers, and picked up four ground balls. The freshman had three goals and an assist, as well as 10 draw controls, four ground balls, and a caused turnover against Oswego on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Brockport to wrap-up the regular season.
 
Wlostowski, a senior mathematics major, was a catalyst for the SUNYAC-leading Bengals in a 5-1 week, including a 4-0 weekend with doubleheader sweeps of Plattsburgh and Potsdam. The senior left field went 9-for-15 for a .600 batting average, a .632 on-base percentage, and .800 slugging percentage, while scoring eight runs, and driving in three runs. In the field, Wlostowski sported a perfect fielding percentage with five putouts in the outfield. Wlostowski went 3-for-3 and scored a pair of runs in the first game against Plattsburgh on Friday afternoon, then followed that performance with two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a run scored in the second game on the day. She also went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored on Saturday in the first game against Potsdam the following day.
 
The softball team returns to action this Wednesday as they host Penn State Behrend.
