Shevaughn Allen Named SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year

SYRACUSE, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its yearly outdoor track and field awards on Thursday afternoon, selecting Buffalo State's Shevaughn Allen (Buffalo, NY/JFK) as the Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Student-athletes are nominated, and selected, by coaches of the member institutions.

Allen adds one final award to an impressive first year as a Bengal. The horizontal jumper was the 2023 National Champion in the triple jump with a facility-record leap of 15.57 meters at St. John Fisher in late May, also earning All-America honors in the event, while placing 12th at nationals in the long jump.

In addition, Allen was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association(USTFCCCA) All-Niagara Male Field Athlete of the Year after taking first in the triple jump and second in the long jump at the regional meet, also earning USTFCCCA All-Niagara Region recognition in both events.

At the conference level, Allen was First Team All-SUNYAC and conference champion in both the triple jump and long jump. His leap of 7.52 meters in the long jump is a Buffalo State program and SUNYAC record.
