Men's Hockey Drops Non-Conference Contest to Alvernia

READING, PA – The Buffalo State men's hockey team dropped a non-conference matchup to Alvernia on Sunday evening by a final score of 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alvernia opened the scoring just 1:11 into the first period, then doubled its advantage inside of five minutes.
  • Just pasted the halfway mark of the frame, the Wolves added a third goal to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission.
  • Isaac Chapman scored his second goal of the game for Alvernia less than one minute into the second period, and the Bengals were held scoreless in the frame despite two opportunities on the power play.
  • Alvernia made it 5-0 in the final minutes of the second period.
  • Each team scored twice in the final period, with the Wolves building a 7-0 lead after Chapman's third goal of the game, before Meure netted his third and fourth goals of the season in the final minutes.
  • With exactly five minutes remaining, a shot from the left point went wide, bounced off the back boards out front to Meure, who tapped the rebound into an open net for his first goal.
  • Meure then ripped a shot from the left circle off the post and into the net to complete the scoring with 29.9 seconds remaining.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Chapman was one of four Wolves with a multi-point game, finishing with three goals and an assist.
  • Hunter Alden recorded four assists, Logan Vande Meerakker had a goal and two assists, and Christian Dahl scored a goal and added an assist.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals will be off next weekend, before returning to SUNYAC action at home against Cortland on January 19.
