INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Sam Gregson (Anglesey, Wales/Ysgol David Hughes) and Joseph Desmonie (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) both notched a goal for the Bengals.
  • Shae Wirt (Overland Park, KS/St. Thomas Aquinas) completed a full game shutout, making eight saves in net, and tallying his eighth shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • On a crisp evening at Coyer Field, the Bengals entered this contest motivated as their undefeated regular season and SUNYAC season was on the line against the #19 SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons. The Red Dragons put the Bengals on their heels early, but the Bengals defense held steady, leading to a long pass in by Salvador Gomes (Lisbon, Portugal/Colegio de S. Thomas) to the net with Gregson waiting to tap in the leading goal.
  • Closing out the first half of play, the Bengals maintained their composure as play developed into a back-and-forth game of possession, with the Bengals holding onto the first half lead.
  • Needing to put this game away, the Bengals came out aggressive in the second half, leading to a corner kick and a tap in goal by Desmonie…and the goal needed to upset the #19 Red Dragons. This win would mark the Bengals first win over the Red Dragons since 2008, and their first win against a ranked opponent for the season.
  • The Bengals outshot the Red Dragons 15 to 14, with seven shots on goal.
FOR THE FOES
  • Dillon Kelly led the Red Dragons with three shots, all on goal.
  • AJ Lucas completed a full game making five saves in net.
