HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State came into today's matchup with the intentions of taking down their rival Blue Devils. The Bengals opened their first set with numerous straight points, leaving little room for the Blue Devils to catch up. With two points left to clinch the first set win, and a three straight point rally by the Blue Devils, the Bengals would close out strong and win their first set 25-12.
  • The second set would be a battle, as the Blue Devils wouldn't go down without a fight, especially on their home floor. As the Bengals would look to ride the momentum of their first set, the Blue Devils would keep play within arm's length, including a three point rally to bring the second set to 22-16, in favor of the Bengals. However, the Bengals would lock back in, going on their own three straight point rally to close the second set 25-16, and look to clinch a sweep victory in the third set.
  • The third set would be all Bengals, with continuous straight point rallies. As the third set came to a finish, the Bengals would lead by double digits and finish with a convincing 25-14 set win, and sweeping the Blue Devils in this years, "Battle By The Lake" matchup.
FOR THE FOES
  • Erin Callahan led the Blue Devils with six kills and three blocks, with Molly Cassidy leading the ten assists.
