Jr. Islanders) and Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, NY/New Jersey Titans) each picking up two points.
  • Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) held steady between the pipes, making 41 saves on 44 shots.
  • The Bengals were outshot by the Red Dragons, 44-29, while picking up 27 wins in the faceoff circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals entered tonight's matchup with the #13 Red Dragons, winners from the night before and looking to stack early conference wins. The first period showed the Bengals had a lot of energy leftover, peppering the Red Dragons early. The Red Dragons would respond with a strong attacking sequence, giving the Bengals defense a lot to handle. But credit for both sides keeping their ground and entering the first intermission tied 0-0. The Bengals were outshot 10-9 in the period.
  • The second period saw the Bengals finally breaking through the glass door, catching the Red Dragons off guard and scoring a goal, thanks to Blake Deacon (Port Williams, NS, Canada/Valley Wildcats). The attack would continue has Kiriakov would score three-minutes later, followed by Powell and putting the Bengals up 3-0 midway through the second period. An attack by the Red Dragons ensued, thanks to penalties by the Bengals, but a Michael Marquez (Upland, CA/Yarmouth Mariners) power-play goal would put the Bengals up 4-0, seemingly having this game fully in-control. The Red Dragons would get on the board as the second period horn would sound but the Bengals walked into the second intermission with a 4-1 lead. The Bengals were outshot 19-16 in the period.
  • The third period saw the Bengals play more relaxed, holding a three-goal lead but things would get interesting as the Red Dragons would cut the lead to two-goals, after an early third period goal. Ten minutes later, the Red Dragons would score another goal, cutting the Bengals lead to one, and making this finish interesting. After killing one penalty, the Bengals found themselves facing a six on four penalty-kill, with under two minutes left in the period…but a faceoff win and a full-ice empty-net goal would bring the lead back to two goals, giving the Bengals a much deserved 5-3 win on the night. The Bengals were outshot 15-4 in the period.
FOR THE FOES
  • Matthew DeSpirt, Domenic Settimo and Nate Berke were credited for goals for the Red Dragons, with Settimo and Berke picking up an assist each. Colby Seitz finished with two points on the night.
  • Hunter Hein finished the night with 24 saves, on 29 shots.
