INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • David Tolan (LaVerne, CA/ Danbury Hat Tricks) scored the lone goal in regulation for the Bengals, while Ethan Perrault (Tipp City, OH/ Johnstown Tomahawks) scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, NY/New Jersey Titans), Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk) and Andrew Langlois (Aurora, ON/Cornwall Colts) were all credited with assists for the night.
  • Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) was a stonewall between the pipes, making 29 saves on 30 shots.
  • The Bengals were outshot by the Lakers 30-17, while picking up 27 wins in the faceoff circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a big road win against the #13 Red Dragons last week, the Bengals looked to carry a wave of momentum as they battled the Lakers in Oswego. Opening the first period, the Bengals played on their heels as the Lakers attacked early and often. However, the Bengals defense stayed steady with Cumberworth shutting the door on the Lakers attack and taking this game into the first intermission tied at zero. The Bengals were outshot 20 to five in the period.
  • The second period saw the Bengals put some pressure on the Lakers defense, but an opportunistic Lakers team were able to get on the scoreboard with a goal on the power-play. This lone goal would give the Lakers a 1-0 lead in the second intermission, putting the pressure on the Bengals to answer back in the third period. The Bengals outshot the Lakers seven to six in the period.
  • The third period couldn't have started any better for the Bengals, scoring a goal within the first two minutes of action, tying the game 1-1 with a full period to fight for the win. A back-and-forth period saw each team gain chances to score a game-winning goal but credit to both defenses and goalies for maintaining solid play and bring this game to overtime tied at 1.
  • In overtime, the Bengals were able to cause a turnover within the first seconds of the period, capitalized by a Perrault goal to give the Bengals a 2-1 win over the Lakers.
FOR THE FOES
  • Jesse Horacek scored the lone goal for the Lakers.
  • Brandon Milberg finished the night with 15 saves, on 17 shots.
