ASTON, PA – The Buffalo State women's hockey team lost their first game of the year, dropping a tough game against the Neumann University Knights, 2-1.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) scored the lone goal for the Bengals. Kaydene Kemp (Niagara Falls, ON/Niagara Falls Rapids) and Daphne Gray (Eagle River, AK/Northland College) were each credited with an assist.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) had a solid day in net, making 23 saves in net on 25 shots.
- The Bengals outshot the Knights 46 to 25 and with the Knights winning 40 faceoffs to the Bengals 34.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After last night's opening season win, the Bengals looked for an early opportunity to stack wins. However, the Knights would answer back from their loss, scoring a goal in the first :20 seconds of the game, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Bengals would respond back, attacking the Knights defense and getting shots on goal…but the Knights defense would remain tough and carry the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
- In the second period, the game would even out as both teams came out hungry for a win. As play progressed, the Bengals would dig back into their play last night, with an onslaught of shots on the Knights…but strong play in net kept the Bengals off the board, trailing into the third period.
- The Bengals would finally get their answer, with a power play by Willick, tying the game 1-1in the 4th minute of play. However, the Knights would retake the lead in the 9th minute and hold on to squeak past the Bengals 2-1.
FOR THE FOES
- Trish Dan and Charlotte Labre were credited with a goal each for the Knights, with Labre picking up an assist as well.
- Sydney Babin would carry over last nights strong goaltending play, making 45 saves in net.
