BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team battled to a draw in their first SUNYAC matchup of the year, 1-1, against the SUNY Potsdam Bears.

In the first period, the Bengals and the Bears battled for puck possession as both teams thrived in keeping each other out of the attacking zones. The Bengals would receive a chance to get one on the board, with an early powerplay opportunity, but credit to the Bears keeping the Bengals off the scoreboard and keeping this matchup 0-0 at the end of the first period. The Bengals outshot the Bears, 15-10, in the first period.
- In the second period, the Bengals gameplan finally went their way, with a goal by Kemp putting the Bengals up 1-0 early into the period. This momentum was carried throughout the period, as the Bengals into the intermission with the lead. The Bengals outshot the Bears, nine to six in the period.
- With the game in their hands, and the momentum going their way, the Bengals grasped to their lead in this game as much as they could. With the third period nearing an end and both teams battling, the Bears would get on the board, tying the game in the last two minutes of play and take this game into overtime. The Bengals were outshot eight to six in the period.
