INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Grace Zwolak (Stoney Creek, ON/Niagara Falls Rapids) and Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) each picked up a goal for the Bengals. Zwolak would be credited for an assist today, as well as Kaydence Kemp (Niagara Falls, ON/Niagara Falls Rapids).
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) kept her hot play going, making 37 saves in net on 38 shots.
- The Bengals were outshot by the Roos 38 to 13, with the Roos taking 39 wins from the faceoff circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After battling the SUNY Potsdam Bears last night to a draw, the Bengals looked to clean up their mistakes from that game. In the first period, they would do just that, as Grace Zwolak would get the Bengals on the board on a rebound shot on their power play. The fast start would help the Bengals enter the first intermission with a 1-0 lead over the Roos.
- In the second period, both teams would fight for supremacy, as play would stay in the neutral zone. A late surge by the Roos would put pressure on the Bengals defense, but credit to Auge and the Bengals defensive for keeping the puck out of the net and keeping their 1-0 lead entering the second intermission.
- Entering the third period and clinging to their 1-0 lead, the Bengals would be granted another power play opportunity…taking advantage once again with a goal from Willick. The Roos, again making a late surge, would answer with an extra attacker goal…but it would be too late as the Bengals would celebrate with their goalie as they picked up their first SUNYAC win of the women's program.
FOR THE FOES
- Bailey Cote was credited with the lone goal for the Roos, with Riley Andzel and Danika Lalonde being credited for the assist.
- Alyssa Townsley was stellar in net, making 11 saves on 13 shots.
