HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Finishing their SUNYAC schedule, the Bengals entered this non-conference matchup looking to carry the momentum from back-to-back wins. In the first set, things looked to go the Bengals way, getting out to a 12-6-point lead. Things would continue to get better as an eight straight point rally would put the Bengals ahead 23-9 before closing the first set with a dominating, 25-11 win.
  • Entering the second set, the Bengals strong play would continue jumping out to an early 11-3-point lead. However, the Hawks would show a strong resilience, fighting back with a three straight point rally to bring the match within one point. That momentum swing would drive the Hawks rallying six-straight points, taking the second set from the Bengals, 25-23.
  • The second set loss was the drive needed for the Bengals, who would open the third set rallying five straight points and taking an early 8-1-point lead. Even as they Hawks fought to keep this set within arm's reach, the Bengals strong team play kept the Hawks at bay, closing the third set with a convincing 25-13 win, looking to clinch the game in the fourth set.
  • The fourth set would see the Bengals do just that, rallying six-straight points, after a back and forth start to take a 14-7 lead over the Hawks. As the Hawks would do their best to chip at the Bengals lead, it would be too much to come back from, leading to a Bengals 25-18 fourth set win, clinching a victory over the Hawks.
FOR THE FOES
  • Molly McKinnon led the Hawks with eight kills, followed by Katie Kociszewski with six kills.
  • Jessee Jonathan led the Hawks with 15 assists and 16 digs.
